Short answer. We found four apps that let you hold a conversation in Lithuanian with an AI partner: Talkfirst, Kalbukas, Kalbo AI and Talkpal. Pick Talkpal for the most free minutes, Kalbukas for a Lithuanian-only chat partner, Talkfirst if you also need the oral A2 mock exam with a score from 0 to 10 and explanations in English, Russian or Ukrainian.
We make Talkfirst, one of the apps below, so we say plainly where the others are better. This page covers only AI conversation partners: apps where you say or type something in Lithuanian and an AI answers. Lesson apps, grammar trainers and tutors are in the full review of Lithuanian apps. Features and prices come from each developer's site or App Store page, with the date we checked.

What to compare in an AI tutor
- Voice or text. The A2 oral exam and real life need answers out loud, without time to look words up.
- Explanation language. At A1, a correction explained in your own language saves you from guessing.
- Pronunciation. An AI partner is built to understand you, so it often lets a wrong sound pass. A separate check tells you which word was off.
- The exam. For permanent residence, check whether the app follows the exam format: three oral tasks, a timer, NŠA scoring.
Talkfirst
Talkfirst is a voice trainer for spoken Lithuanian. You talk out loud with an AI partner from A1, on everyday topics or in scenes, and the partner speaks at your level, a little above it. After each conversation you get feedback on your pauses and mistakes in English, Russian or Ukrainian. Words from your conversations go into flashcards, and you practise pronunciation word by word.
For permanent residence there is the A2 mock exam: the three oral tasks in the NŠA format, answered out loud against a timer, with a score from 0 to 10 and “would pass” from 6. There is also a mock written part (reading and writing, listening) and a Constitution practice test with 20 questions and 45 minutes. Talkfirst works in the browser, as a Telegram Mini App and inside ChatGPT and Claude.
Free: 35 voice minutes a week, a full mock exam once every 7 days, no card needed. Pro: 140 voice minutes a week, mock exams with no weekly limit, all scenes and your own conversation topics, for 500 Telegram Stars per 30 days. Weekly limits reset on Monday.
Where Talkfirst is weaker. The free plan is small: 35 minutes a week, while Talkpal gives 10 minutes a day and Kalbukas's €9 plan gives 75 turns a day. The AI scores a transcript of your answer, so pronunciation is not part of the mock exam score. There is no app in the App Store or Google Play, Pro is paid only with Telegram Stars, and there is no grammar course with tables and drills.
Kalbukas
Kalbukas is an app only for Lithuanian, built around conversations with an AI teacher. You can speak or write. Missions are guided scenes such as ordering coffee or asking for directions, with instant feedback; there is also an open conversation on any topic. The site says the AI helps with grammar, spelling and more natural Lithuanian phrasing. When stuck, you can switch to your own language and get the Lithuanian version, and it suggests next replies you can listen to first.
The site offers free Constitution exam practice, and the paid plans add a full Constitution course with unlimited 20-question practice and mock exams. We found no A2 mock exam and no pronunciation score on the site. The interface is in English and Russian; the site does not say which languages explanations come in. It works in a mobile or desktop browser, and the App Store app is for iPhone only. Price: one conversation free; Learner €9 a month with 75 practice turns a day; Learner Plus €19 a month with unlimited turns; both with a 7-day free trial (checked 15 October 2026).
Kalbo AI
Kalbo AI is an iPhone app with an AI speaking partner for everyday situations in Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian and Polish. Your first AI conversation is free with no account. Premium is $15.99 a month or $119.99 a year in the US App Store; the app's language is English (checked 13 October 2026). We did not check how it corrects mistakes, whether it scores pronunciation or whether it has exam practice.
Talkpal
Talkpal is a general AI tutor with Lithuanian among 130+ languages. Its Lithuanian page promises real-time conversations with AI chatbots and analysis of your pronunciation, intonation and rhythm with speech recognition. The free plan gives 10 minutes a day, which is more free time than Talkfirst gives; paid prices depend on your country (checked October 2026). The Lithuanian page does not mention the A2 exam. Talkpal runs on the web, iOS and Android (checked 15 October 2026).
What about ChatGPT and Claude?
A general assistant is the free default: ChatGPT and Claude will answer in Lithuanian and correct you if you ask; we did not test the quality of their Lithuanian. Both apps have a voice mode. We could not confirm on OpenAI's site which languages ChatGPT's voice mode officially supports (checked 15 October 2026), so try it yourself before relying on it. A plain chat does not score pronunciation, does not keep the exam timer and does not bring words back for review. Prompts and the Talkfirst connector for both are in learning a language with ChatGPT and Claude.
Not on this list
Ling has a Lithuanian course with a dialogue feature, but its own pages describe dialogue practice, not an AI partner who answers whatever you say; it is in the full review. Lithuaningo appears in App Store search, but its listing returned “not found” when we checked on 15 October 2026, so we could not review it. If you want a person rather than an AI, a live tutor on Preply costs $13–50 an hour (checked October 2026).
Which one to choose
For the A2 exam, Talkfirst for the oral part plus a written-part tool from the full review. For the most free minutes, Talkpal. For a Lithuanian-only chat partner, Kalbukas. For iPhone and several Baltic languages, Kalbo AI. Whichever you choose, the routine matters more than the app: 15–20 minutes of speaking a day from the first week. A plan in four stages is in how to learn Lithuanian from zero to A2.
Frequently asked questions
Can you learn Lithuanian with AI?
You can practise speaking with it every day, which most learners lack. It does not replace grammar practice or a teacher, and its corrections are automatic and can be wrong.
Is there a free AI app to practise Lithuanian?
Free plans: Talkpal gives 10 minutes a day, Talkfirst 35 voice minutes a week, Kalbukas and Kalbo AI one free conversation.
Which AI app has a Lithuanian A2 mock exam?
Of the apps on this page, we found one only in Talkfirst: the three oral tasks with a timer and a score from 0 to 10, plus a mock written part. Kalbukas and Talkfirst both have Constitution practice.
