How to learn Polish
with an AI agent

Claude and ChatGPT already speak good Polish and explain it well. What they need for months of study is a place to keep your words, hear your voice and track your plan. This section shows how to set that up.

Updated October 20, 2026

Short answer. Use Claude or ChatGPT as your Polish tutor and connect Talkfirst as an MCP connector: the agent keeps thinking and explaining, while Talkfirst stores your vocabulary, scores your pronunciation word by word, assembles lessons, keeps the plan and counts progress. Everything lives in one account that also works as an app in the browser and in Telegram.

People in Poland — on a work contract, with a residence card to renew, with B1 for long-term residence ahead — often already use Claude or ChatGPT. It speaks Polish, plays the clerk at the voivodeship office and explains why it's kartę and not karta. Learning with it is a sensible idea. The trouble starts in week three.

Why an agent, and what it's missing

A plain chat is a strong partner but a poor record-keeper. It doesn't keep a log of the words you learned and when to review them; a new chat starts almost from scratch. Voice mode tries to understand you, not to grade you, so mistakes in sounds and long pauses go unnoticed. There's no score per word. The full comparison is in the best AI app for Polish: a plain chat or your agent.

We're not trying to be smarter than Claude. Talkfirst is the part that stores and delivers what you and the agent exchange while learning: vocabulary, voice recordings, reviews, progress, the plan. At the start of each session the agent reads today(), profile(), notes() and plan(), so in a new chat it already knows your level, your goal, what's due today and what you agreed.

How to connect

  • Claude (browser or desktop): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, URL https://mcp.talkfirst.io/mcp, then sign in.
  • ChatGPT: developer mode (Settings → Apps → Advanced settings), create an app with the same URL and OAuth. Whether developer mode is available depends on your plan and region.

Sign in with an email code or Telegram; a new email creates a free account. Pick Polish in the Talkfirst app. Current steps are in the docs, and the details with Polish-specific prompts are in Polish with ChatGPT and Claude.

One limitation to know up front: in the Claude mobile apps, the connector's windows have no microphone. Text tools work there; voice practice is in the Talkfirst app in the browser or Telegram.

Six things to give your agent

1. Words, into one vocabulary

The most useful habit: whenever you meet a word you need, ask the agent to save it. It writes it in dictionary form with a translation and an example, into your vocabulary and flashcards, and brings it back through spaced repetition and quizzes. Polish words with an AI agent.

2. Your voice, with a score

The pronunciation window opens in the chat: you say a phrase and get a score for every word, plus what recognition heard. The agent explains one or two main mistakes. Polish pronunciation with an AI agent.

3. Lessons it can build

Ask for a five-minute lesson on any topic, and the server assembles it with voices and slides. You listen later, with the screen off. Polish lessons from your AI agent.

4. A plan it can check

A goal, a deadline and a weekly plan with targets the server counts itself, plus an honest pace estimate. A Polish study plan with an AI agent.

5. An app where it all lives

The same account in the browser and in Telegram: conversations, quizzes, lessons and the mock B1 oral exam on your phone. The app where your Polish lives.

6. An honest comparison

What a plain chat does well, where it falls short, and how the agent and Talkfirst fit together. A plain chat or your agent with Talkfirst.

Conversation practice itself — role-plays at the office, the doctor's, with a courier — is covered in Polish with ChatGPT and Claude.

Your first session in 15 minutes

  1. Introduce yourself.
I live in Wrocław, I'm about A2 in Polish, I work in a warehouse and want B1 by next summer. Save this to my profile and ask what else you need.
  2. Set how you want to be taught.
Remember: explain in English, briefly; correct me after a conversation, not during it; use Pan/Pani in official scenes.
The agent offers to save this to your notes.
  3. Save your first words.
Save 10 phrases I need at the office: taking a queue number, filling out a form, asking where to sign.
Expect entries like wziąć numerek and Gdzie mam podpisać?.
  4. Say one out loud.
Give me a pronunciation window for “Gdzie mam podpisać?”.
  5. Order a lesson for later.
Make a 5-minute lesson on these office phrases. I'll listen on the way home.
  6. Agree on the week.
Suggest a plan for this week and show me the targets before you save it.

Next time, open a new chat and just say “let's continue” — the agent reads your profile, notes, plan and what's due today.
